Lactol-intolerant

So.
I'm currently sitting at my laptop. At my uncles house. With a 7 day old puppy, wrapped in a warmed up dog blanket. On my lap. A 1.2oz/35ml. bottle of Lactol baby animal formula sitting at the counter. Two bottle teats; one with pin holes, and one with a cut off tip. And a very sticky finger.

Yes, I have found The Way! Bottle feeding puppies couldn't be easier. Apparently, all puppies are Lactol-intolerant. Or rather, just Lactol haters. I don't blame them; it stinks. Vanilla? Bleh. Anyway. Who wants to go through the trouble of shoving the teat in the pups mouth and waiting for it to start sucking before squeezing and giving the skinny puppy a drink? Not me...Especially at 5AM. Although it isn't 5AM right now, I don't like bottle-shoving any better at 11:10PM.

It just came to me when I was picking up the 'easy-flow' teat from the kitchen counter. Annie starting suckling on my index finger as I was walking back into the living room. It was so simple. I mean, everyone who has to hand feed puppies complains that the puppies are always suckling their fingers because they're hungry, but refuse any puppy formula.

Solution:
Let the puppy suckle your finger, and then, using your dominant hand, put the teat of the bottle in it's mouth, and squeeze. You're not at danger of choking the pup, because it's suckling, so it's swallowing. It was so easy...And now Annie is sleeping, and I have another puppy to feed.

Until next time,

Eli
